Recovering disordered eater

I spent years critiquing my body and comparing it to everyone around me. I tried eating less and working out more. I would pass judgment on myself based on what I ate that day, how much I exercised, or what the scale said.

When I became a mom, everything shifted. I was incredibly grateful for my strong, capable body that was able to bring these beautiful children into this world. I started researching everything I could about childhood nutrition. I felt like the pediatrician wasn’t saying enough at our appointments and feeding my daughter turned into my job. I applied my nutrition education with everything I had.

It wasn’t just about the food choices, it was also about my approach and how to feed her. I didn’t want my daughter, and now 3 kids, to suffer with the constant comparison or negative self talk that I did. They were perfect the way they were, and I wanted to protect that image in their minds.

That’s when I came across Baby-Led Weaning and Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsible Feeding (sDOR). Those two concepts revolutionized how I viewed feeding my kids. I created presentations and wanted to spread the word. There was a different way!

I also realized I needed to work on my own inner self talk. That’s when I came across Intuitive Eating. There is a way to eat without counting calories or using the scale as a false idol. Intuitive eating is an evidence-based approach for life. It’s not a diet or quick fix, and it’s not eating whatever I want, whenever I want.

Now, I help individuals rediscover their interoceptive awareness around food to help reclaim the joy of eating. I help families protect that innate wisdom in their children while healing their own relationships with food.

My vision is a community of happy, healthy, competent eaters.
